Sunny and full of life, it is hard to imagine that the Phlegraean Islands sprang arose as a result of a volcanic eruption that occurred almost twelve thousand years ago. Legend has it that the fault was of the Titans Tifeo and Mimante, imprisoned by Zeus under Ischia and in the womb of Procida: a way like any other to explain the intense volcanic action that has always affected the area and that feeds the famous natural thermal springs on Ischia.

ISCHIA
Spending your sailing holidays in the Phlegraean Islands is an intense experience that fills your eyes with beauty. Ischia will make you fall in love with its natural pools set in the rock, the deep blue waters and the fascinating view of Mount Epomeo, the highest peak on the island.
But the most iconic spectacle is probably offered by the Aragonese Castle, an ancient medieval fortress perched on a huge rock rising up out of the sea. It was built in 474 BC, but it was in the fifteenth century that King Alfonso V created the citadel that can still be visited today together with the small museum full of history.
PROCIDA, VIVARA, NISIDA
Not far from Ischia is the beautiful island of Procida, elected capital of culture for the year 2022, a volcanic island connected by a bridge to a small satellite islet, Vivara, with its characteristic crescent shape. If Vivara is a nature reserve inhabited only by animals, Procida is no less exceptional for its natural and scenic beauty. The island is permeated with simplicity, with colorful houses arranged in clusters that have made La Corricella, its characteristic fishing village, famous.
There is really a lot to do on Procida. You can visit the Terra Murata prison citadel, built on the ancient Palazzo d’Avalos which in 1729 Charles III transformed into a royal palace and hunting lodge, or perhaps you can admire the view from the Callìa scenic viewpoint, which offers the most beautiful view of the island. Not to mention the many small restaurants where you can enjoy the catch of the day and the wonderful beaches, which dot the coast and are to be reached by boat, where you can enjoy absolute relaxation.
Finally, the small island of Nisida completes the Phlegraean Islands, connected to the mainland by a long stone pier.
